The Pininfarina family is set to lose its controlling share stake in the company as it takes a step closer to restructuring its €76 million net debt. The Italian design firm, founded in 1930, has been plagued with debt in recent years, shutting its manufacturing branch in 2011 to concentrate purely on design, ending a joint venture with Volvo that saw the company assemble Volvo's C70. The move is seen as a positive one for the company in the long-term, making it more financially secure for future developments, but it also means that the Pininfarina family will lose control of the company by selling its 77 percent share.
The Renaultsport Megane 250
The latest offering from Renaultsport to hit UK shores is the Megane, which had it’s official reveal at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and is now due to go on sale from the 1st November in the UK, with first customer cars arriving in January 2010. Renault are offering up two versions of the Renaultsport Megane – the hard-core 250 Cup version which will have you queueing at the osteopaths and the slightly softer, and better equipped, Megane 250. Just to complicate matters you can opt for the more back-friendly Megane 250 with its extra kit including auto lights and wipers, leather and electric seats and specify it with the Cup pack.
The Ford Fiesta ST3 (pictured) launches
The absence of an RS Ford at the moment means lovers of fast Fords have to settle for an ST, rather than a full-fat RS. But it seems that those who do opt for the ST versions of Ford’s cars are willing to pay more to get a bettered specced car, something Ford are happy to accommodate with the launch of a new Fiesta ST model – the Ford Fiesta ST3. Ford are already seeing the vast majority of Fiesta ST buyers opting for the ST2 version (9 out of ten choose the more expensive version) so they’re obviously hoping a big chunk of those buyers will instead now opt for the better equipped – and more expensive – Fiesta ST3.
